Doorheen de opleiding Toegepaste Architectuur heb ik een zekere evolutie meegemaakt. Niet enkel als persoon maar ook op het vlak van architecturale kennis en vaardigheden. Hieraan merk ik dat deze opleiding de juiste keuze was. Na drie jaar ben ik nog steeds zeer tevreden over die keuze. De opleiding ligt me en ik merk dat ik erg geïnteresseerd ben in een paar specifieke thema’s: stedenbouw, ruimtelijk planning, renovatie en restauratie. Juist met die thema’s kom ik in aanraking bij het maken van de bachelorproef waardoor ik nog beter kan oordelen of ik ze oprecht interessant vind. Indien die interesse blijft zou ik graag starten met de master in de stedenbouw en ruimtelijke planning. In deze master zijn er ook enkele keuzevakken beschikbaar waaronder renovatie. Ik beschouw die afstudeerrichting dus als een ideale afsluiter van mijn schoolcarrière.
Ik ondervind dat ik de competenties van de opleiding ieder semester beter en beter onder de knie krijg. Het ontwerpen is één van de competenties die met het beste ligt en die ik ook het liefste doe. Uiteraard ontbreekt er nog een zekere basiskennis en beroepsbekwaamheid maar die kennis zal snel stijgen als ik het werkveld betreed. Er is natuurlijk altijd ruimte voor verbetering. Hiernaar streef ik dan ook. Ik wil zoveel mogelijk bijleren, natuurlijk het liefst in mijn interessegebieden.
Tijdens de voorbije drie jaar heb ik ook een visie ontwikkelt die wil verwerken in het verder verloop van mijn carrière. Ik vind het zeer belangrijk om aandacht te besteden aan het welzijn van de mens. Vooral in functie van het samenleven in de stad. Verder probeer ik ook zo veel mogelijk aandacht te besteden aan het ontwikkelen van duurzame producten, zo circulair mogelijk werden is de toekomst.

Throughout my Applied Architecture studies, I have undergone a certain evolution. Not only as a person but also in terms of architectural knowledge and skills. This tells me that this programme was the right choice. After three years, I am still very satisfied with that choice. The programme suits me and I notice that I am very interested in a few specific themes: urban development, spatial planning, renovation and restoration. It is precisely those themes that I will come into contact with when doing the bachelor’s thesis, allowing me to judge even better whether I find them genuinely interesting. If that interest remains, I would like to start the master’s in Urban and Spatial planning. In this master’s there are also some electives available including renovation. So I see this major as an ideal conclusion to my school career.
I find that I master the competences of the course better and better every semester. Designing is one of the competences that suits me best and that I also like doing most. Of course, some basic knowledge and professional skills are still lacking, but this knowledge will soon increase as I enter the professional field. Of course, there is always room for improvement. This is what I strive for. I want to learn as much as possible, preferably in my areas of interest, of course.
During the past three years, I have also developed a vision that I want to incorporate into the further course of my career. I find it very important to pay attention to people’s well-being. Especially as a function of living together in the city. I also try to pay as much attention as possible to developing sustainable products, becoming as circular as possible is the future.
